Hello,

if i plug my RX480 in the x16 PCI-E directly on the board, the card working fine and make 29,5 mhs.

if i plug this same card with a riser x1 to x16 adapter cable, the miner will not find a GPU. if i use 5 other riser cables it is the same. if i use a other RX480 GPU directly on the x16 PCI-E slot on the mainboard, all other gpu cards are working. but if i use a riser card, no other cards are working
i have tryed to plug the riser cable on a othe pci-e slot, but it is the same.

must i change any settings in the motherboard bios, to bring a x16 card in a x1 slot to work?

Best regards
Willi

I have the same cards on a ASRock Z97X killer motherboard and had a similar problem. Setting the second and third PCI-E x16 slots in the BIOS from Auto to GEN 3 solved it for me.

I had a bunch of asrock H97 anniversary boards that required me to use a 16x to 16x riser to activate the full length slot. Not sure if it is the same with that board but it might be worth a shot if you cant figure anything else out.

Stop buying industrial miners, running them at home, and then complaining about the noise.

is this the same issue with the asrock z97 extreme 4? but if i set gen 3 i can't use the riser x1 slot anyway, do i need gen 2? in my bios setting i cna only see pcie x1 and x5 to set auto or gen which is the right one?

I think the problem is when set to auto the board configures the slots for SLI and overclocking. Since you are only using a 1x riser in the 16x slot, it can't detect the card. The other issue is Z97 has limited PCI-E configuration options in the bios. Some boards have other settings like 4G decoding that you need to set for the PCI-E x16 slots to work with risers. You also need to set the x16 slots to GEN 2 or GEN 1 on some boards.

Make sure you have the monitor plugged in to the vga input set it the bios and try setting it to GEN 2 or GEN 1. I had to leave the primary PCI-E x16 set to auto and the other two to GEN 3 and I also enabled the power management setting under that.

The only thing what i can change in the bios is

Chipset--> PCIE2 Link Speed = in Auto / gen1 / gen2 and gen3
Primary Grafics Adapter = onboard / PCI Express / PCI

Some are spoken to set some configs per PCI-E slot, but i Cent find this Option in my bios

A other Question: can i run only 4 GPUs Witze the Mainboard? I have only 4 pci-e Ports and two pci Ports. Can i Plug a x1 cable in the pci Slot?

Edit: Asrock Bios is updated to the last bios Version
