I have already acquired one 650 EVGA PSU, just wondering if people think a second 650w will be okay for a 6x 570 rig? Or should I maybe get a 750w as my second PSU?

Thanks Smiley

If the cards are undervolted to consume 90w at the wall (not dual-mining), you will have 620w with spikes to 650w.  That is a big no-no on a 650w PSU 24/7.

You need 850w total for 6 cards IF they are severely undervolted.  1000W recommended for dual mining (~120w per card).

A 650W won't have enough VGA connectors for six cards. If you dual mine get a 1000W as the VGA PSU . If you don't dual mine, I would get the 850W. Use the 650W to power the motherboard, all of the risers and accessories.

first off  there are multiple evga 650   and or 750  psu's

so no one can answer this correctly

second  did you use 6 risers?

third if you used 6 risers  what type are they?

since powering them can vary.

ie

six pin pcie direct
sata to six pin
molex

that said here is a really good sale

89.99 and a 15 dollar rebate

Thanks all

I have a rig that is waiting for gpus to arrive
Currently I have installed one 650w EVGA PSU supernova GS
Which is plugged into the mobo (asrock h81 pro btc)
Also plugged into the PSU right now is one VGA to 4 SATA and one VGA to 2 SATA which then plug into the PCIe riser boards  https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222451407125

I was then thinking that just one 650w PSU isn't going to cut the mustard on power delivery in total, nor in the number of power ports it has to power each of the gpus

So I was thinking of buying a second 650w PSU to mount into the rig along with the first, connected together which one of those "dual PSU split cable" thingys and then plug all the gpus power supplies into the second PSU

So the rig would in total have 1300W

Thoughts very much appreciated

Thankyou

I have 2 Evga 850 G2 PSUs for 5x570 and 1 RX 470.

I know it is more power than required but I could not get a single 1200W and found them with good price.

Anyways consumption is around 1020-1030Watts with ETH+SIA dual mining. For ETH only it is 850ish.

I applied some BIOS modding but most likely not the most efficient mods but I wanted to mine and they are mining.

These are wall readings from a wattmeter. I hope gives you an idea.

I plan to add one more RX when/if I can find for a reasonable price as recently it is hard to find and quite expensive.

I have available PSU slot and power for it.

Pay attention to how many cards can you power with the PSU cables before buying two of them.

Maybe not mandatory but it is suggested to use identical PSUs for dual PSU and balance cards and system components on PSUs.

This maybe the ideal world but I think different PSU models will work together as well.
