PCIe 1x to 16x Riser issue...

Hello All, Just starting to build my garage rig and running into this issue..

Purchased these http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/192118564811?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&var=492027232546&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

I purchased 10 of them just incase only going to use 5, so i went to test one out on my MSI PC MATE H270, with no luck on any port 1x or 16x
Plugged in the adapter power cable and everything else, i set the bios to Gen1 and Gen2 even tried it on a X58 board still no detection what soever.
my RX 580s have a blue light on the back when they are powered on, that is not coming up either, plug it back into the 16x port directly and it works no problem Updated BIOS etc..

So i'm looking at possibly 10 adapters (which seems like a long shot) or im completely missing something

Any suggestions??

thats interesting, because i bought 5x of the exact same ones (different seller) and mine don't work either.

I also bought 2x different ones (black PCB) and they worked.. i thought i was crazy that i got 5 in a row that didn't work.. but now im thinking there is something faulty?
