You can mine with either your gpu or cpu in linux. I think AuroraHF meant mining bitcoin without an ASIC is pointless

GPU mining is pointless at the current difficulty ..
You can either buy an ASIC Miner for a lot of money, or you can use cloud-Miner such as cex.io
