Im new to the bitcoin scene and i just got this used Bitmain s2 But when i long in my hardware version is "x.x.x.x" and The Miner Status is Unpopulated. any ideas of what is happening here?

Have you tried setting up the miner first?
In other words, have you tried connecting it to your pool?

well i have it up and running, port forwarded through my router but i still have the same screen even when i try to connect to a pool, its still unpopulated

Out of curiosity, why a s2 when s3's and higher are probably more available and cheaper to run?

Have you opened the case to make sure all of the blades are properly seated? In early s2 batches the cards were not secured in place and often came out/broke. You sure the PSU in it is working? (PSU failure was a big issue with the s2's).

It does not need to have all the hash blades plugged in so try running just 1, then 2, then 3, etc. Give it enough time to fully boot, as I recall they are alive in about 2 minutes.

What pool? Do you have other miners pointed at it and working? Got the username & pw (usually just  x  is fine) right?
