First transaction and desktop converter

Ok, I just did my first transaction/conversion that is not yet completed. I'm not great at crunching a bunch of numbers so what I'd like in the future is a desktop converter that takes the price of bitcoin and converts to what the market is at the moment and also a section with volunteer numbers. Is this available? It would be cool as a wordpress plugin with sidebar widgets as well.

Unfortunately, spending bitcoin for me is a bit like just tossing it out there on a credit card and I'm going to see that as my downfall. This is why I want an app like this to keep me from spending too much.
