I use electrum to store bitcoin.  I like to get some altcoins like ETH, litecoin etc.

Is there a way to do this anonymously?  I believe people mentioned bitcoin is not anonymous but ETH is.  Is that true or not?

Does anyone know if there is a way to trade btc for eth/litecoin and say waves anonymously while using electrum?  I believe it has something to do with a mixer.  Can someone explain this?

Also another question i want to ask.  Assuming you trade btc with someone for their cash... let say they give you cash in person or at a casino for example, are there any traces to you sending bitcoin?  Because i heard a while back bitcoin was anonymous but now it isn't?  Can someone explain this?

Does it also have to do with your bitcoin address that you use?  I heard people mention you shouldn't use your bitcoin address more than once etc.  Does anyone else actually do this?  Because i mainly use the same addresses when using bitcoin when receiving etc.

Can someone tell me how i could trade bitcoin for altcoins anonymously if thats even possible?  I was reading about shapeshift and how its a site that converts btc to eth and vice versa and a lot of other coins.  I don't really mind but the more i think about it, i dont want there to be a trace if there is a way to not allow this.

Also if using this mixer, does that mean i could still send it with electrum?  And how hard would it be to use a mixer?  Im not tech savy at all etc.

am the first here i guess//
The subject of anonymity in bitcoin is suedo-anonymity were we can very well trace the activity of a certain actor but can not link his activities to him/her. So yes every one  sees that so so address bought this coins or sent those coins but we can not actually know who it really belongs to. But people do some bad practices that blows up their cover in this world once your cover is blown every and anything that you have done and will do can be know by any and every one.
So yer if you meet some one to sell btc physically then they can monitor your movements if at all you are using the same address every time. because he will definitely see that address from  which btc are coming from. But this is not the case when you use electron wallet since it mixes the btc and passes through diff wallet and the wallet that ends up sending the btc is not the original one you sent from so you are invincible. so trading anonymously is simple juts send coins to an exchange you want to trade on e.g poloniex, bittrex you can also open account in these sites with anonymous addresses .... and start trading anonymously.

Bitcoin really is anonymous like ETH, one can track transactions originating from an address but still no one really knows who owns that address, unless it is announced publicly by the owner that he/she owns that address it is also the same in ETH. To trade btc for eth/litecoin anonymously and vice versa just use exchanges. About mixer they are used for one to avoid transactions being tracked on block explorers to know how they really work, find threads here about bitmixer or chipmixer for example there is an instructions there on how to use mixers. Also about the trading btc with someone for their cash in person or at a casino for example, there aren't any traces left sometimes but this can be bad because it might result into scam just do it on exchanges instead. Also you can use bitcoin addresses more than once since it won't really reveal your identity unless you said publicly that btc address is yours. Besides shapeshift, there are other way to convert bitcoin for altcoins anonymously which is via famous exchange sites like bittrex or poloniex there might be a trace but no one can certainly know that you did a transaction or not sometimes just because in the logs it only displays someone buying or selling without a username so it is still anonymous.

It is currently considered that all of the trading paltform as a pseudo anonymous,
So are BTH and ETH, they are not anonymous, best anons coins are probably growing now.

The problem with trading is gateway, we want to get in/out thethe money.
As long as the gateway is under current situation
then trading can be said impossible under anonymous management

In my opinion this is possible. And the one way to achieve this is by using shapeshift.io or any related site. For example you have ETH and want to sell it the top by exchanging it to LTC. Just select ETH from the shapeshift and enter your electrum LTC address. From that you can trade anonymously.

I use electrum to store bitcoin.  I like to get some altcoins like ETH, litecoin etc.

Bitcoin trading against fiats [1] also could be done anonymously but withdrawing/depositing fiats must need to pass verification processes. It means we can trade within cryptos anonymously but we try to extend out trading into fiats and bank accounts, we must need to unveil our identity.

[1] Some exchanges permit these with USD tethers and some other exchanges are allowing this by not allowing fiat deposit/withdraw as deposit and withdraw should be done in BTC.

Poloniew doesn't require any ID verification if you're trading less than 2000$ a time. If you're trading more then you have to verify but I'm positive Poloniex is your best option considering the market rate and the high volume.

As mentioned trading to altcoin pair or altcoin to bitcoin doesn't require any verification. These are found in limited exchnages and for altcoins to fiat there is always a requirement of an verification. So that making trades in an anonymous manner is simply impossible with fiat as banks won't allow such transactions.

As far as I know BTC-e doesn't require any ID verification, irrespective of the amount of coins you trade. Also, they have been around since 2011, and I believe that it is one of the most reliable and trustworthy exchange sites. But I don't understand the second part of your post. How can you say that Ether is more anonymous than Bitcoin?

Can someone here confirm this?  Yes i heard of shapeshift.  But doesnt it still record the address or whatnot from my bitcoin wallet when doing this?  Or does shapeshift does it so there is a public record?

Also what if u use the same btc address all the time?  Would that still be an issue?  Or you have to make sure you dont use same address etc.

they being Shapeshift owners can keep records of every transaction so your litecoin or whatever address will be linked to your bitcoin address and if that bitcoin address is somehow linked to you then it is not anonymous anymore.

although you should remember that anonymity has different levels. you should first decide from whom you are trying to hide!
is it the average Joe on the internet because you want to keep your privacy or is it the government because you did something illegal? or many other reasons. for each of which there is a different way!

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.
