We are all looking forward to that day when big online companies like Amazon, Facebook, Twitter and the likes would accept Bitcoin as one of their payment options. But for now, this is not yet coming because these companies have not yet made any commitment to incorporate Bitcoin -- not yet even in their drawing board.
I am sure they also looked into its possibility and decided that it is not yet time for some factors and I am sure the number one factor is volatility. Dealing with volatility means they would set-up a system to cope with the challenge and it has the potential to disrupt their already-established flow.
Another big factor is that there are not really so many people who are using Bitcoin for shopping because we are holding on to our Bitcoin as a speculative tool. I think this is also true in Japan as there are shops that are accepting Bitcoin but never experienced an uptick in Bitcoin-based transactions.
I am sure that a time will come when we can all use Bitcoin for these and other companies that are operating online.
