I'm trying to buy currencies but many exchanges are not operated in NY. It seems you need a banking charter or a license which only several have (Gemini, Coinbase, itBit) but these do not offer alt currencies.
I know Bittrex has applied for a license, but it does not seem to have been approved for one yet, but it doesn't block me. Is it legal to trade through here in NY or do I have to use Tor/VPNs? Thanks.
