Hoping to gauge interest in a group buy of the ASICMiner USB Sticks for Australian Residents ONLY.

The purchase will be on a similar format to other group buys, one of which is quoted below (and will be the template for this buy), and the charges and escrow fees and arrangements similar.

Please reply with your INTEREST ONLY, and if there are enough, we can do a formal agreement with finalised fees and charges.

I am not sure if we can get the 300 minimum, but hopefully if there is a significant number (ie 100 or so) we can get that amount from one of the other bulk buys going.

Cheers

Adam

Please Note:
Only send payments from an address you control (i.e. you can sign with it). If you send from MtGox or other exchanges, you risk loosing your funds since you can't prove you sent them. Please send from a wallet you can sign a message with.  You will send your shipping address via this method.

Policy update:
Refunds: Your orders are binding after your funds have been used to pay for an order.  Before that (while coins are piling up for the next batch), you can ask for a refund and will get it paid back in full. Understand that after you get refunded, I will not accept future orders from you.

Folks and miners,

As discussed in the [Announcement] Block Erupter USB thread, I want to support the ordering of individual Block Erupter USBs  and act as a distributor for the 300 units offered in bulk order by ASICMiner.

Product Description:

the only payment accepted is Bitcoin.
the minimum order quantity is 300, maximum has not been specified, but there probably will be a maximum.
Each one mines at more than 300MH/s, powered only by the USB port.
It serves as a replacement of GPUs for mining hobbyists.
Your GPUs could be freed from calculating hashes and resume rendering for you.
It is also a perfect gift for getting people to learn about Bitcoin and Bitcoin mining.
    The Sapphire Batch:
This is the first batch under production in quantity.
Its lead-time is conservatively 15-20 days.
Color of PCB changed to blue
Adding a LED which blinks when a share is found
    Fixing the cgminer compatibility problem
Reducing the heat generated and the current to <500mA

Pricing:
The minimum order size for the group buy is 300 units at 1.99 bitcoins each.

Shipping cost: $5.80 for Priority Mail Small Flat Rate box.  I will ship up to 5 USBs per 1 USPS shipping box. At the current exchange rate ($110 USD/BTC) the cost of shipping up to 5 USBs is .053 bitcoins.  I will not use anything else like a padded envelope and risk crushing of USBs while in transit.

Insurance cost is $TBA for $1000 of declared value.  This adds .0218 btc at current exchange rate.

Handling and processing is .15 btc for up to 5 USBs

So this is about 1.99+.053+.0218+.15 = 2.2148 BTC per single USB device.

Note: If you want to pickup your order in person, you may do so by appointment, after I finish shipping first, your cost is 1.99 btc per USB under this option.

Ordering:

If you still want to buy and are fine with the above pricing model, then you will have to participate by paying for your order upfront.

There is one common payment address: to be advised

To buy:

pick the number of ASICMiner Block Erupter USBs to order: N where N is between 1 and 5 only
send the total amount (C = (N * 1.99)+ 0.2248) to the given address
post your order in the following format: <forum nick>; <N>; <C>; <sending address>
ensure the sending address is under your control, so you can sign with it in case of disputes

You can order in multiples of up to 5. Meaning: if you want to order say 6, you would place two orders: one for 5 units and another order for 1 unit.  to order 7, you would place 2 orders where N=5 and second order where N=2... and so on.

If there is enough demand to order an additional 300 batch, I'll do so (given they are available to order). Those not getting into the queue will get their coins returned (to the sending address).

Shipment
The USB miners will be shipped to you within 1 day of me receiving them.

Communication
I live in East Coast Australia and have a day-job that allows me ample time to devote to this endeavor. I do sleep at night, so if I don't answer at night, please be patient.

Cheers,

Canary

The minimum order is 300 at the moment.

I doubt there will be this much demand in Australia, but i'm hoping I can get interest in about 100, and then get a batch from one of the other group buys going on elsewhere.

I have heard that ASICMiner will ship within 2 weeks, and I will forward on the next day after I receive them.

Let me congratulate you for taking the initiative for starting and Aussie Group Buy

I don't know if many Aussies know about bitcoin?

I am promoting it to all my clients, mind you the lecturing can be exhausting.

Looking at it from a tight arse perspective, wouldn't it make more sense to do a group buy from BFL? considering that their 5GH machine are nearly in production and the cost is not that much more negligible compared to the 300MH Erupter? The money saved from shipping could make the BFL group buy a more viable choice and then theres the NO minimum order to add to that.

Also on the same tight arse note, for 2 bitcoins at the current price of $119USD you could almost purchase a 7870 delivering 450MH and the only difference would be that the Erupter would use far less power, however considering you could use your card to mine scrypt based coins or eventually use it as a normal graphics card once again, I would consider it better value to purchase a graphics card.

I would understand buying a Erupter for novelty reason but economically, does not seem like a wise choice.

Personally if I had acccess to an engineer I personally like to see an avalon chip group buy here in Australia

I am Sydney based and I would be interested in 10 as well.

Any idea if I can connect them to a single laptop computer? Also I believe, do they need any additional cooling?

cheers

1) I don't see why not.
2) No, they will have a small heatsink in them as you can see in the pictures. I read from friedcats post, that they work without the heatsink too, but then the ASIC chip becomes dangerously hot to touch.

Might I suggest pooling the group buy with the other Australian one? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=197446

More likely to make 300 with one buy instead of two...

Hey Guys and Gals,

The above link is to another Aussie buy for these USB miners.

I have decided to let him run with it as I'm not sure there is the interest for 300 units.

I have written to him, and will work in with him a bit, and have outlined your support for the units and the possible numbers (although this will not be binding).

I would prob pop over there, and post yourselves if you are still interested.

Cheers,

Adam
