Hi,

I'm just registering my GPU's for warranty, for a trivial amount I can extend the warranty to 5 or 10 years...

do EVGA and such like pay out if you have used it for mining and if it packs up in 2 years because of that do you think they will replace it?

I don't have first hand experience with EVGA warranty service, but have seen they are good at standing behind their products. My opinion on extended warranties in general is that they are a big profit center for companies that offer them and therefore not a good deal from a consumer standpoint. I think with VGA's this even more so, given will you even want the card after the initial 3 year warranty expires?

You have a point, but equally if they did break, you could get it replaced with new then flog it....

evga  extends the warranty for no extra money. ------- this may be out of date  or only for psu's

evga has really fast and good replacement of psu's

I have had 3 psu's replace by them.

so far none of my evga gpu's needed to be replaced.

@op  do your evga paperwork  if it is free and it is worth it to do.

That could be one benefit, if you're still using the card after three years. Also the fans will almost certainly go out before anything else and way before the warranty ends if using it 24/7 for mining. To maximize the return it would be better to sell it off before then.

I don't think you need more than two years warranty because after two years you usually sell the you for the next generation that are better and more efficient

I have some 7970. They are still working well for mining. That is 5 years old card.

I still have one 7970 with original fans going strong.

But the last two 7950 I had the fans completely died on (I had purchased replaced heatsink / fans a while back so I'm just going to replace them).

-----

On the original topic... I started buying PNY GPUs as you can register for a limited lifetime warranty on many of their products... and I got a good deal on them.

The Sapphire fan is quite good.
