i have been searching for software, but for the mining program itself, i had too many problems. either it had a virus (avira could stop it, so its fine), i couldnt make it run bc the settings were too confusing or are not available anymore.

Could you clarify? You don't mean you're going to try and mine with a CPU or GPU right? Those days are long over.

Check out this link for mining software though. https://99bitcoins.com/the-6-best-bitcoin-mining-software/.

What specification does your PC have? If you have a good GPU then you can mine Ethereum with Claymore.

The antivirus can detect the Claymore as a virus or malware but you can ignore it in the antivirus' settings.

Otherwise if you have a good CPU then I have seen some coins that can be mined through CPU.

Exactly. 100% for sure not bitcoins though. Don't even try, it'll just suck out your electricity and spit out pennies a day. It's not going to be worth your while.

No the bitcoin is too far from mining from a PC, but mining with a PC is only possible and profitable at the same time through GPU and CPU(for some coins).

Mining bitcoin with a PC doesn't worth, the hardware can be damaged and there is no profit, the electricity will cost more than the coins earned!!

But he is on the "altcoins" subforum so he's probably thinking of mining other coins and exchange to bitcoin. If that's what you want, check this: https://whattomine.com/
You will need a mid to high end GPU. Mine ethash based coins with amd gpus and equihash based ones with nvidia.
If you don't have a dedicaded gpu with 4GB of vram and you only want to mine with cpu, forget about it. It's not profitable.

Give a try with nicehash software. It will benchmark your system and give you an idea of what you can make

Good luck! Have a nice hash
