Don't you think it would be somewhat anti-science and close minded to reject the existence of the spirit World?  The fact they haven't been proven don't mean they do not exist.  We marveled at what is possible with pretty new Quantum Physics... imagine that what we are yet to discovered could infinite and far superior to Quantum physics.

The desperate push to obliterate religion could  make people more suspicious of atheists intentions.  A conspiracy theorist thinks some evil elites may be behind this push....in other to weaken a particular religion or religions that are real threats to their fascist agenda,  create deeply immoral, hopeless, fearful and vulnerable societies and the most important of all, hide our spiritual abilities to resist them "when the time comes".

It would be for our interest to accept these possibilities than outright rejection.

Art had it's rennaissance in the 17th century, previous to that there had been a lot of reformations taken place, criticism towards the church and re-translations of the bible.
In the 18th century and little prior to that, out of the sheer willingness to know reality as it is trough exploration empowerd by empirical senses, logic and rational thought and being uninhibited by religious dogma the sience movement began and soon people we're marvelled by discoveries even though they didn't have a clue as how it worked. Not very later a great revolution began, laws we're discovered and religion still had a fundamental role in the background of this all. As arabia, the muslims who were not restricted by their religion to practice sience had already made great effort in mathematics, astrology and other things came to Europe a growing dissatisfaction with the vatican grew and troughout the ages from there on religion gradually became less involved. Also in this time Atheism started taking its roots though it was presently already mentioned times before in the 16th and 17th century but an idea of no God was ridiculous and nonetheless blasphemous, the greatest crime you could commit back then. As dissatisfaction with religion grew and the pursuit for truth became stronger, religion started to get blamed more and more for problems and suffering on earth. Eventually religion and religious concepts became as a sign of a weak mind, gullibility as things only able to be proven with sience and logic could hold ground.

-Long story short, the rejection of these ideas is ages of religious dogma and frustration of  not being able to excersise free thought and opinion. Sience became stubborn because it had to be stubborn to develop without bias. Now we aren't controlled by religious dogma anymore and can unbiased explore these idea's.  That's what I think..

Also sience often labels ancient culture's as primitve, so their idea's had to be primitive aswell. Even though we get our greatest source of wisdom and knowledge from the greek and the uncensored times of Arabic country's.

on a side note it has been documented that several philosphers prior to the age of enlightenment privately we're atheists but publicly we're religious, roman senate members often did the same as it was cultural to believe in the plurity of gods and would sure get you a smile or a free filled rat for lunch. (yes they ate rats..)

-Yeah ofcourse people think some evil guy in his high tower does this, honestly I think it's far more sinister than that and it's  the evolution of our species on a mental level.
We have our biggest epiphany's slaughtering eachother and doing the most horrendous experiments...
If there is someone so genius that he can manipulate our entire species to his will then you better hope he's benevolent cause I don't see anyone taking him on.
People are just very ignorant, including myself. And maybe this guy in his high tower knows ultimate truth but also knows our ignorance so he plays us to let us find it out for ourselves or he doesn't hold the best intentions and the game was rigged from the start. Either way its you, and me that make the change.

I'm of the mind that every scientific breakthrough and discovery is just a little piece of understanding God has allowed us to have. We'll never come close to understanding what makes up the soul, how to measure it, or even detect it. We'll try with everything we've got (the whole "god has set eternity in the hearts of men" bit in Ecclesiastes) but we're just tiny hoomans. It's beyond us by design.

Santa Claus has never been proven to exist.  He is another fairy tale your parents told you.

Is it in our interest to believe in him too?
