Just a heads-up to all VPS-mining folks:
ChunkHost is offering 2x deposits
for today only if you deposit using Bitcoin! Plans are a flat $9 a month with an optional upgrade fee. The most basic plan offers 1GB RAM, 30GB SSD storage, 2 CPU cores, and 2TB Transfer/month. If you are considering a DigitalOcean VPS but don't have a Paypal account, you can use this instead!

Also, when compiling your clients it might be best to make a swap file, just in case:
instructionsInstructions1. Fund your account. It is recommmended to fund it with more so that you can run more miners concurrently. 0.05 BTC should be fine, and gives you over $110 of credit.
2. Set up the chunk. Use Ubuntu 12.04 or 13.10 for the OS. The root password will be emailed to you.
3. SSH into the chunk using either putty (Windows) or ssh (linux). Run the following:
# apt-get update ; apt-get upgrade.
# sudo apt-get install make automake git build-essential libcurl4-openssl-dev
This will provide the necessary tools for CPU miner building.
4. Compile CPU miners as usual. Warning: flag "-O3" or flat "-march=native" seems to cause SIGILL to be thrown.
