How to set up private bitcoin pool?

Hey,

I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction of how to set up my own pool with my local servers and worker units. I am not interested in joining one. It seems from what I can gather so far that I can simply run bitcoind and point all the workers at my main server address with different bitcoin miner software on the workers? Is this right? Help please? If anyone else is also interested in starting or joining a pool please pm me. THanks!!
