Hello, I am new to Bitcoin mining and would like to build a small, cheap mining rig for under $300 / £197. I have tried searching for components myself, but this will be the first computer I have ever built by myself and I find it stressful to find compatible hardware that is suitable for mining. So, could somebody show me some hardware for bitcoin mining that is effective and under $300 as a total, please?

Note: This excludes Mice, Monitors and Keyboards.

Save yourself some trouble and don't bother.

You obviously have done no research and aren't willing to

Don't bother. You won't get anything useful for this price. Here's the best I can think of.

Crappy Motherboard w/ 1 GPU spot: $80
AMD 7770: $100
2 gb Ram: $20
USB rather than harddrive: $40
Amd Sephron CPU: $40

Total: $280

Then you need your power supply & cooling.

You could join a pool and get one of ASICMiners's little USB miners for about $200.

Though that's more novelty than anything else.

If you don't have serious $ to invest, you won't be successful as a new Bitcoin miner.  FPGA and ASIC units have made it impossible for casual people to realistically compete.

Mining bitcoin is not profitbale anymore using cheap hardwares. If I were you, I will try mining PowerCoin. This coin has very big potential.
