I'm sure lots of people have said this, but after joining Ripple I am left wondering "what now"?

I'm already doing small BTC transactions, I am learning slowly as I hobby mine LTC and am unsure what would be the best way to get started with Ripple (XRP)? Smiley

If you want to nerd out, read the wiki: https://ripple.com/wiki

Maybe you can establish some trust lines with friends and family? It's not very useful, but pretty interesting to figure out.

If not, use the Ripple client to trade with other currencies. There are, as far as I know, no merchant that will directly accept Ripple IOUs for products or services. I'd make this myself, but the rumor is that OpenCoin have been working on one.

Thanks for the advice. Lots of research to do. Smiley

you can sell to me

I have zero XRP, just opened my first Ripple account. Smiley

You can sell your XRP for 90% silver US dimes/quarters/half-dollars IOU's from this guy.  Also if you trust the Bitstamp gateway you can trade those against BTC or USD.  I have received 25 physical dimes and 2 half-dollars from TTBit, and just redeemed another few dozen that I expect to receive in a day or so.

I say this just because it's the most that I've really done with Ripple and I thought it was cool.  I have not seen a competitive market for trading USD and BTC, but it's another option.  If you got a bunch of XRP from the giveaway you can cash out into USD, BTC, and probably LTC, if you trust people/exchanges whose IOU's are being traded.

I'm working on getting ripples but have heard of them being a scam since the developers/company kept a lot for themselves. If you don't believe in the currency, there are members here offering to buy them at like 1btc/9000 ripples.

Unfortunately I joined the forum after Feb 19 2013, that's a shame, would have liked some XRP to get me started, oh well. Smiley
