China shutdown VPN, looking for overseas providers that accept bitcoin

In case you haven't noticed, China is banning all VPN providers. Bitcointalk has been blocked years ago.
I am planning to use some non-china VPN providers. Hopefully they won't be blocked by GFW.


Here are some options (after googling):

1. expressvpn, they accept bitcoin.  99 usd/year
2. vyprvpn: alipay accepted, but not bitcoin  99usd/year
3. astrill: alipay/bitcoin accepted.   69.95 usd/year

If you have any experience using vpn in China, I would love to see some comments, good or bad.

Is there any specific relation in banning VPN services all around the country. Whether it's for security purpose or for anything concerned to the economic development of the country. Also this is the first time I'm hearing that bitcointalk is banned in China. China has been supporting Bitcoin long ago then why the forum blocked. This doesn't make sense, can anyone explain it.

how about chrome extentions, like browsec dotvpn? are those china releated also? otherwise you can make your own vpn with a proxy plus virtual machine or simply in your host

Thanks for the advice.
1. Extension are not stable and not fast enough.
2. I might have to build my own VPN if I have to. I am not techie guy, but I could give it a try.

VPN service used to be a grey area, scholars and developers need VPN to do research so there was quite a number of vpn providers in the past. But earlier this year the authority said vpn must be controlled. http://www.sohu.com/a/125146913_335495
Just yesterday, my vpn providers inform us to raise refunding request as they will shut down the  service on 1 July indefinitely.

i am not in China but VPN is also blocked in my country.
there are two kinds of blocking so you need to first figure out which one they are using before attempting to get a VPN.
the normal way is to block the websites selling or block ports that VPNs use. in which case using a different port like the ssl (IIRC 443) will solve it easily. usually schools, ... use this on their internal network to prevent students or employees, ... use VPN.

the complicated method is blocking any sort of VPN connection by doing some DPA (deep packet analysis) in which case nothing will work, and buying regular VPNs would mean throwing your money away because you can not connect to any of them. solution is using a VPN provider which offers an extra layer of SSH encryption. the only one that i can remember which offers this service and accepts bitcoin is called AirVPN

I visit China quite often and yes, they have blocked nearly all of the VPNs. Several years ago, I've used vpn.ac to browse the net in China. I had great experience using it.

I went there again last December. This time, I've used Shadowsocks with my own server. Its quite cost effective if you can find the best VPS provider. Yes, shadowsocks is still working.

Well how wise would it be to list "unblocked" VPN's on here? China will just add them to their Firewall and they will also be blocked. Do not make it easy for them by listing it here. This forum are monitored by a lot of agencies, including agents from China. I guess with all traffic being monitored, they will easily spot traffic that are encrypted or presented in a weird way. I feel sorry for the people in that country, we are so used to communicating without borders and do not appreciate this privilege enough. ^grrrrrrr^

what i explained above (the additional layer of SSH) is un-blockable. and the only way of blocking it is to block all encrypted connections and that includes https connections meaning all the websites using it (such as banks, ...) will be blocked.
there are additional ways to add that extra layer but i have found that SSH is the best method.

Unfortunately China shutdown many VPN providers https://www.vpnanswers.com/attack-vpns-china/ but actually I got a reliable VPN service that accept bitcoin and works very good in China, it si bVPN I managed to bypass firewall freely with highly encrypted connection.
