As we all know the Monero developers did fork again and I was mining the cryptonight v7 algorithm with 520 h/s for a single Nvidia but now with cryptonightv8 algorithm one card is doing 340 h/s most of the time and some times it spikes to 480.

The settings and overclock are the same on both algorithms, I guess this is normal but just wanted to confirm wih other persons here ?

The new algorithm changes introduce several steps that aren't efficiently processed - you will either see a reduction in hashrate, an increase in your power usage & thermal output, or both. This is completely normal and expected - all miners are subject to the same changes, so despite having a lower hashrate, returns shouldn't really be affected.

Returns are affected as I am receiving lower reward but the consumption is the same so far. Even the temperatures are the same but this could be to weather becoming cooler and colder each day. I wonder if this algorithm will be optimized with the time passing by ?

I also observed worsened speed on different video cards by 10-20 percent. This is normal because more complex functions are used in this algorithm. Nevertheless, this is better than it was with dominance of ASICs.

The algorithm is being intentionally de-optimized, to avoid ASICs.
