How would you hide anything from the state under such a system? What if all cash was withdrawn from circulation and you could only pay for things electronically?

I read that article today too.  All I can say is this is a great opportunity to focus on exposing people living in the UK to bitcoin...and some foundational Agorist literature as well...

"We will not find a solution to political problems in cryptography, but we can win a major battle in the arms race and gain a new territory of freedom for several years.

Governments are good at cutting off the heads of a centrally controlled networks, but pure P2P networks are holding their own."

This article is your typical "test balloon". Now they just need a reason (right tragedy) to get the UK citizens to accept this proposal with open arms.

The next step will be the phasing out of cash, and perhaps (in the not so distant future) watching for illegal barter with all of those flippin' cameras they have all over the place. Tongue

I suspect nearly every country still has cash because if you get rid of it a non-state alternative will pop up so fast. They'd rather have us hoarding their tokens.

Oh, you mean something like a digital commodity that could be printed out and transferred just as easily in person as online?  Wink

Looks like the original article has been taken down.  Our mainstream media doing it's best...

So anyway somebody posted a full copy.  Thanks for the non-mainstream media!
