There are hardly any p;aces in Oz with Bitcoin ATMs but the ones here charge a 4% fee. The Bitcoin ATMs are by Lamassu & operated by BitRocket. If you were to do this with Coinbase they charge a 3.99% fee as a credit card is only allowed, which is exactly the same plus you have to give them all your details whereas am ATM is a lot more private. Not to mention overseas transaction fees changed on your credit card to convert AUD to USD so a Bitcoin ATM would be cheaper.

My questions:
1. Anyone use these ATMs and recommend using these?
2. Are the rates provided by these ATM very competitive, or do they screw you over on the rates?
3. Can you only exchange to Bitcoin on a mobile phone since you need to scan a QR code on a mobile? I'd rather have it go straight into a wallet on the laptop so you don't have to send it twice racking up fees to send from mobile phone to a laptop.
4. I've heard another way of people here accepting cash straight to their bank account then they send you Bitcoin. Of course you would need a reputable person. But is this a better and cheaper way of getting Bitcoin than an ATM?

1. We don't have them in our country but a family member once traveled and I gave him some bitcoin to withdraw them for me, the experience was very good.

2. You should find every ATM here: https://coinatmradar.com/ and this include the fees, the rating from users If they left any, the working hours and the addresses as well.

3. I find the phone a more convenient way since you will receive a confirmation for SMS and I already have my wallet on it. If you are buying bitcoins then the ATM will have a camera and they will ask you to put the QRcode in front of it so you just put your laptop and you are good. If you are selling then again, you can use the camera on your laptop to scan the QR code generated by the ATM and send them.

4. A lot of services like Coinbase, Kraken etc. allow doing that, I have never tried it myself but the fees are definitely not cheap when a third party service is involved, I suggest checking their site and compare them with the ATMs you want to use.

Yes, that's the site I used to find the ATMs. Those ATMs on the site says Buy: 4.00% then under it says in red "not updated". So I take it they only charge the 4% but we don't know how competitive the exchange rates into Bitcoin is as we don't know which market they use.

Edit: actually, it says 4% from BTCMarkets. Does anyone know how competitive BTCMarkets are compared to others?

3. I find the phone a more convenient way since you will receive a confirmation for SMS and I already have my wallet on it. I've watched a few vids online of peeps using that brand of ATM. It doesn't ask for a mobile number which gives you extra privacy. I'm wondering if you can just print out the QR code from your wallet on your laptop and then scan that piece of paper with the QR code?

Yes you can do that. If your wallet doesn't give you the QRcode or something, just type it on blockchain.info and It should give you the QR code and print it from there, when the ATM ask you to, just show it to the camera and you good to go. You could come across an ATM that has issues and they could refund you instantly (If you are selling your bitcoins) so always walk with that QRcode in order to collect your refund in case something bad happens, as you are not willing to use phone.
