As a newbie in this crypto game, this is the greatest FUD I have ever heard abt bitcoin. Has there ever been a time bitcoin went through this kind of criticism as the case of Chinese govt clamping down on bitcoin activities...

Unlike this, bitcoin regained very fast during the 1 August segwit. I hope China won't outrightly ban exchanges as alleged...

Hell yes. The level of media coverage these days is quite amazingly level headed compared to a few years back. Back in the day you would find one article in ten or less that took it seriously. These days those old school hatchet jobs stand out like sore thumbs. Journos who blindly condemn it just wind up looking stupid.

The Chinese 'ban' dragged on for what seemed like forever in late 2013 into 2014 too. It felt like it was impossible to get actual facts and no one knew what would happen. In the end it settled down but I'm not surprised this current stuff has happened.

There's always an army of people who want to make you believe Bitcoin is on the edge of disaster.

And the Chinese thing isn't FUD. It's real. And it'll pan out fine.

Bitcoin has been criticised a lot of times and even before it had been this popular. And I think with every level of succession of bitcoin there is always someone or some party that would criticise its capability but bitcoin stay strong and always find time to regain and recover from those negative comments.

Year by year there always was speculations and predictions that China can ban bitcoin, you can check old articles. But in recent weeks when all that become true, bitcoin got huge media coverage. And it's normal that among all these news, we see lot of FUD. Now many people who don't have good knowledge about bitcoins are trying to talk as experts. Main part of FUD spreaders who criticise bitcoin are from vanks sector. But despite everything, it didn't affected bitcoin price as they wanted. Yes, bitcoin price decreased to $3200, people got chance to get cheaper btc, but now bitcoin rising again.

China won't set a definitive stance until 18 October since there is a major party meeting at that time. Until then the fud will continue and we'll drop to 2600 before bouncing back. There's still a ton of red volume that hasn't resolved yet. This pullback isn't half done yet.

I believe one of the reason why bitcoin today is being criticized more as compared before os because of its fast growing popularity.  We cant deny the fact that bitcoin today has rapidly grown in value as compared before and this is very enticing for critics because they are now seeing bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies as a real threat.

Well, sure. You have to consider that BTC was trading in the cents and dollars range for years; we're now trading near $4000. A few years ago, it was much more common to hear that cryptocurrencies were just Ponzi/pyramid schemes and scams. And Congresspeople were even calling for it to be banned.

From a mainstream establishment perspective, BTC is much more accepted now. It's not going away. And that's exactly why the Chinese government is doing what they're doing. I don't think they are doing this to attack Bitcoin at all. I think they are trying to consolidate control over Chinese Bitcoin mining and the Chinese market. This isn't about prohibition as much as consolidation.

Things definitely feel uncertain because of the situation in China, but in a broader sense, certainty about the future of BTC is becoming more solid everyday.

Bitcoin has been criticised time and time again. Especially now that its price keeps on rising.
Back then  when the price is so little most people did not even bother to know what bitcoin is and what it is capable of. Most skeptics said that bitcoin is a scam, it is good as nothing and everything bad that they can throw at bitcoin. Now when the price got higher and keeps on getting higher the same people are still at it. Nothing good to say about bitcoin, most of them are from the banking industry it might be because they must have seen what bitcoin can do to their traditional currency, and that scared them.
Since it is decentralized they cannot do anything about it so they criticize it again, just so that the people will not patronize it,  but after all these critisizing and accusation to bitcoin price keeps on getting higher and higher Only proving them wrong and that made them scared everyday as long as bitcoin exist.
Now that bitcoin is gaining more popularity everyday we can expect that these same people will say something bad against bitcoin again they might say that avoid bitcoin at all cost.

It is normal for bitcoin to get criticized because that is the way of other people to make bitcoin down and most of them are just using that classic strategy to buy cheaper bitcoins and get into the boat of bitcoin because they are late so they will make an excuse to get bitcoin for a lower price and that is by criticizing.

It is a daily routine for bitcoin to be criticized each day in the office, in school, in the restaurant anywhere I go. Every time with my office mate when we have a conversation regarding bitcoin, they will criticize it. What more in an international world of finance. However, more often than not it is a good sign that bitcoin is maturing, whether the criticism is good or bad.
