So I am just starting out currently mining with just my PC (GTX 970 for a whopping 1.50 a day on Nicehash). What I would like to start a discussion about is where the pros suggest starting out. I have fell into the craze of watching the Bitmain site realizing that if anything becomes available (which it is suppose to in like 8 hours) that it would be for an order in say October-November. What I would like to know is if there are some good solid miners that people recommend that are not the most sought after hardware in the world currently that people feel would make a profit before becoming obsolete. As I mentioned I am very new to this and would like to eventually build a decent size setup but dont want to put my eggs in one basket for something I am just learning.

Any recommendations on Hardware would be greatly appreciated and if you have the time to knock it down to rookie terms even better. Like what the equipment is, What it mines, ect. Thank you in advance for your help.

If a machine is profitable, there is a premium on it baked into the price to reflect that. It'll be pretty hard to compete with the big farms for the hardware.

While I'm not expert miner, I'd say look at hardware from Ebit or Cannan. They aren't as powerful as the bitmain machines, but they're usually in stock for their advertised prices. In addition, you could look on eBay for used gear.

Remember that your power costs will eat into your profits as well - it is pretty tough to make a profit unless your power rates are very low.

Just mine the altcoins with GPU's,you can sell em for BTC on exchanges....and the resale of GPU's is better & the warranties are MUCH better...up to 3 years  Wink

You only need an old dual core CPU & 4 gigs of RAM....get the cards with 4gigs or more of RAM....HDDS need to be 40+gigs.Just get new PSU's to be sure you don't burn up or short your PC out  Grin

Mining Bitcoin is gonna be done by BIG farms only VERY soon.....they keep raising the diff.....so let em have it  Cool

Find a good alt and stick to it. I suggest Zcash but whatever floats your boat.

Once again, no posts about GPU's or altcoin mining here.  Use the correct sub-forums: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2017600.0
