Such a shame. If anyone has a Bitcoin related blog, twitter, website or other form of social media account, be sure to spread the word and let people know they need to switch clients ASAP if they're still using it. I've just removed MultiBit from the wallet links on my website. Feels like the end of an era. Always loved MultiBit Classic's intuitive and slightly retro user interface. Then again, it definitely had some noticeable shortcomings that detracted from the overall experience. The UI alone definitely isn't reason enough for people to continue using it. It's just not safe enough to risk it.
Agreed. MultiBit is the first wallet I used to keep Bitcoins and I was always impressed with its functionality. It is sad to see it is going the way of the Dodo.
Why wouldn't KeepKey simply sell it off to someone else? There must be plenty of investors around the world who would love to buy this company...
Yeah, I'd
commented elsewhere that it didn't seem to make a lot of business sense, but chalked it up to hindsight always being 20/20 and decisions made at that time, living in that moment, sadly aren't always as easy to judge correctly. Perhaps they are banking on someone with an entrepreneurial vision to step in and make an offer for it. I'd imagine the door is wide open. Such a person just has to keep in mind that it was a far more complicated task than KeepKey envisioned, so they should make sure they're up to it. There are quite a few bugs to work out before anyone can then start adding the extra functionality needed to bring it up to date. I'm no programmer, but I'd assume it's possible that large parts may need to be rewritten completely.
Let's keep our fingers crossed, though. Would be nice to see it rise from the ashes and make a comeback.
