Getting latest block info from miner, w/o actually mining

Hi everyone,

Miners provide fastest and latest block information (block number and difficulty). Is there a way to run a miner software without actually mining (not using GPU), but being able to see latest block information at the same time?

You can run a node. Block explorers get their information from running a node, propagation happens in milliseconds.
