Tried running the sync of the whole blockchain on my Windows 10 using Armory 96 and most recent Bitcoin.core as happens on so many applications running on Windows 10 I get "low disk space" and despite clearing as much of the disk space as I can the application terminates stuck back around 6 years.

I did happen to get online with armory but could not tell you exactly how that happened. Anyhow, complete idiot on these types of issues, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

AB

Right now Bitcoin Core node and Armory is using about 152 GB on my computer.  You should plan on having that much free space and more for future growth of the blockchain before you try to sync. Do you have that much free space?

And remember, the blockchain grows by 1 MB every 10 minutes, that is 1 GB per week.  Segwit may increase this to up to 4 MB approx 2 MB per 10 min (for a 70% increase in capacity - hmm).

That's incorrect. Segwit does not make blocks 4 MB but only allow for a 70% increase in capacity. It almost doubles the transaction capacity and also only doubles the absolute size of a block.

I am sure you are right.  In the worst case a block can be 4MB, but in reality that only happens with malicious/unfortunate input.  In average, it gives almost a doubling of capacity for a doubling in data size - at least once it starts getting used.   Which is an important first step in getting bitcoin back on track as a digital currency.

There is a tendency to judge algorithms and the like by their worst case performance, while it is usually the average performance which counts - unless there is some reason to think the worst case will happen often in real life.
