Does Disintermediation mean something different today than yesterday? Yesterday it meant leaving banks for non-traditional finane firms. But, with AML and KYC, does disintermediation need to mean something else? i.e. exodus from the financial system as a whole into safehaven protocols?

Taking exchanges out of the loop also, and having more direct P2P BTC traffic would be dis-intermediation.
