Hello.

I have pre Aug1 paper wallet and want to import it BTC from it ot Electrum(wich is insync with Ledger Nano S).

But i dont have import privet key option in Electrum WIndows soft, only sweep pr. key option.

So Electrum dont have this option for privet keys -only to sweep them ?

Thank you in advance.

It's possible to import, you must create a new wallet => standard wallet => Use public or private keys and then you type your private keys there. It's worth mentioning that it won't be possible to recover this wallet from the seed. Sweeping is a better option because all your bitcoins from your paper wallet will be sent to one of the wallet addresses and so you will still be able to recover it later.

i really can't see a scenario where sweeping is a better option though.
- if you want to spend BCH, like by sending it to an exchange, sweeping is just adding an additional unnecessary step and you may have to wait a couple of hours for 1 confirmation on your first tx to spend it again if the BCH blocks are being found with delays.
- if you want to hold BCH then just hold on to that paper wallet, it has been safe so far and it will act the same in the future.
- and finally in case you have used that paper wallet on bitcoin chain and wanted to move the BCH from it to a new paper wallet again sweeping will add an additional step. just create a new paper wallet, import and send the funds to that new paper wallet.

Thank you all for reply.

I want to transfer BTC and BCH to Ledger Nano S (and sell BCH eventualy).

What i plan to do is :

1.Transfer BTC from paper wallet to Electrum windows wallet(i have Electrum synced/veryfied with Ledger Nano S wallet).

2.Transfer from same paper wallet BCH to Electron wallet(installed on win 10 virtual machine).

3.Transfer from Electron wallet to Ledger .

Is it fine from security perspective ?
