Questions and answers
[
Does Ledger.fr know my private key?]
No. As you set up the device, you generate the private key on your ledger. It is then stored in the secure chip on the ledger. So no one has the opportunity to make a copy of your private key.
[
Is the personal PIN code secure?]
Each time you connect the ledger to the USB port on your computer, you must enter the PIN code. If an incorrect code is entered three times, the device is reset and the content is deleted. A malware can not reset the wallet by sending three wrong PIN codes, as it is necessary to physically disconnect and reconnect the wallet before trying on a new PIN code.
[
What happens when ledger no longer exists?]
When Ledger finishes all its activities, the Ledger Chrome application will most likely stop working because our API servers are stopped. However, this would only be an inconvenience as the bitcoins remain completely secure as long as you have your 24 word recovery phrase. With the 24 words you can always restore your balance in another compatible wallet.
[
What is included in the package (included)?]
1x Ledger Nano S (device), 1x USB connection cable, 1x manual with link, 1x recovery sheet, 1x small band to attach to the keychain, 1x long strap (for example, to carry on the neck), 1x small eyelet to the small band or
to fasten the long band.
[
Why does the BTC address change in the ledger?]
The Ledger Wallet Bitcoin Chrome application manages multiple addresses for the same account (HD-Hierarchical Deterministic Protocol). Each time you receive bitcoins, the address will be replaced with a new address that always points to your own account. It is a security and privacy feature. Of course, each address stays active and you can continue to use the "old ones". Each transaction is displayed in the application.
[
Why does not the ETH address change in the ledger?]
The Ledger Wallet Ethereum Chrome application manages only one address. You can manage multiple Ethereum addresses and accounts with MyEtherWallet.com.
