There seems to be so many wallets and programs and pools I don't know what is best. Any suggestions on how to invest in a small amount of litecoins and also how to start mining them?

I'm honestly not trying to be an ass here, but you answers are pretty easy to find:

http://lmgtfy.com/?q=buy+litecoins&l=1

I think the question was posted b/c a simple google search gives no confidence of what the best option is . Yes you can dig / research for hours, but I would think the experience of those on this forum would be way more valuable.

You can CPU mine but it is not really worth it

If you have a good GPU (especially a decent Radeon) you're better off using that to mine.

There's also btc-e.com if you have some BTC and want to trade it for LTC

Depending on what hardware you are using, you can take a look at http://www.WhereToMine.com to see if you're using it for the best coin.  I just set up the site yesterday, so I'm open to any opinions/suggestions.
