I am very new to BTC and I just want to say thank you to everyone here! I have learned a ton in the last few weeks that I have been reading.

I have been struggling to get a hold of any equipment. lol Even old gear is going for longer than a 6 month RoI. I would LOVE to find out what people are doing with all them 80 dollar 333MH/s - 2GH/s USB sticks. lol

I decided to make a modest upgrade to the video card in my old tower so I can experiment with NiceHash and test out the 5 month RoI of the new (older generation) card.

Anyway, thank you again for being a helpful group! I look forward to spending more time here.

They are loosing money having fun.
Nothing else you can do with them.
My friendly advice is to leave mining to professionals with millions of $ put to it, to be able turn profit.

I agree with velkro .. nicehash is not a good option many people there are having some trouble bout mining some says that they have lose some money and didnt have a good catch ... you must try it someewhere else ill comment here again once i prove that the one i am doing is paying good so i can be a hand for you .. bu for now goodluck !

Depends, altcoin mining with graphical cards can be very profitable, even for users with a small pocket.

The only thing you need to start off with is 1 high end card, which you can get for ~500$.

Alot of gamers already have one aswell, not thinking about the possibilities.

I believe the ROI was indeed ~6 months with a 1070, which seems pretty good to me, everything you earn after that, minus electricity  is pure profit, and mostly passive income.

Try to build up a mining rig better than usb stick. It may get more profit. You also can try to join some mining pool forum.

mining doesn't really offer much unless you have the right gear, as you've mentioned, if you're new in bitcoin just buy BTC or whatever alt you want and invest in ICO's that you find interesting, just my 2 cents

Hi and welcome to the cryptocurrency community. I would not mine if I was you, even if it is good to understand the concept, if I was you I would consider investing into it because throughout history the price of bitcoin in average is about 2.5% daily witch is huge for an investor compare to mining witch only give you a part of your investment and you need to get your ROI (return on investment) back. For sure if your new to the community, it will be complicated and even more if your new to the trading industry, but I am telling you, everything is profitable but you need to think about both side of the coin.

Start with what you have. If you like it and decide to sink in for a long time, try to ask good IT staff for the right equipment. If I have to be honest I'm not very good at this topic but in the forum there are many good IT professionals who will give you valuable advice.
