Transfer Ripple

When I try to transfer my Ripple, in my exchange, there are the address, and a "tag" to do it.
What is this tag? I dont understend how and why to use, because in the destin where I want to send, there arent a place to copy the tag.

What exchange you are using?I personally use bittrex theres no much requirements you to trade/exchange coins its just a matter of seconds and you are good.

Im using Bittrex and when I try to transfer, when I create the address to transfer, the Bittrex create a Tag, and a message that I need to put this "tag" on the destin.
I dont understand this "tag"
