Hi i just am curious to know people's speculations of the profitability in mining Dash for the upcoming year? I had purchased an antminer D3 today (Sep 14th 2017) from bitmain but i am abit concerned about future profitability. I physically wont receive the D3 miner until end of November. Will ROI and earnings be attractive enough then?

with all the asic miners being ship before your shipment(Nov) I would say about 5-10$ per day. Still profitable but not nearly as profitable for those who got it from the 1st batch. That calculation is from todays current price of dash/btc so expect it to move up or down as this market is very volatile.

So whats the best move? Waiting until they release the new antminer D3+ (is there a official release date?) or using the current one? Im starting to have alot of doubts
Now esp since the recent news that had beeb announced today regarding seizing the trade of bitcoin by the  BTCchina Exchange. Feel like its too late to join in on the crypto currency mining.

Now network fees for the transaction in bitcoin and altcoins will be decreased as price reduced in the market value chart. Now, again as per current bitcoin least value 3340 USD for a BTC. I understand altcoin mining giving better profit than bitcoin. I too prefer ASIC miners since giving decent profits.

I'm in the same boat as you are. Got two D3 november batch. My take is they will roi in one year. I don't see BTC staying at 4-5K, more 2K so the other coins will follow.

Even before the last week of price collapse (which I do NOT anticipate recovery from for a while, unless the Chinese Government turns it's apparent current policy around and specifically states "domestic cryptocoin exchanges are in fact legal"), I was anticipating DASH mining profitability collapsing to an extremely lower level by the end of October, and even more so in November and December, JUST from the very large number of Antminer D3 units that have been sold.

Then add in all of the OTHER folks selling "current generation" miners like the Innosilicon A5, the new Pinidea, the newly-announced Baikal X10, the DM11G and DM22G.....

I don't *THINK* we're tallking "5 cent electric or lose money" territory by turn of the year, but I am NOT sure that will be wrong.

(Edit) then the Bitcoin Price Collapse due to China getting "anti-Bitcoin" hits, now I suspect 5 cent electric might not be enough for a D3 to be profitable by end of December.

I'm no longer legendary just in my own mind!

Given the recent news of cryptocurrencies plunging in value, is it worth me buying the D3 antminer at this time?

I would say no. Before your batch arrives the difficulty will be very high. And it looks like the bear market is coming so i am expecting huge pullback in price. All cryptos are overvalued rn. Better buy GPU mining rig and you can still ressell it in case profitability drops significantly. And you will start hasing right away.

Hmm.. mine was an impulse purchase. I know all of this, but still could not resist trying to get my hands on a couple of units. Now I'm sitting on top of two D3 fully paid november batch. Hope to get them in the first week of december and mine trough the holidays. Or maybe I should flip them as soon as they arrive.

What do you think ?

actually ROI could compete with other types of kiss as long as we remain patient in the hoard for a while and then wait for price movements up in order to gain multiple benefits later.

Thanks for your response. Alternatively i was thinking about trading crypto-currency, i want to wait until it reaches the floor before i buy, I'm just unsure of when the right time is to do so?

After the bitcoin price drop another 20-30%, maybe it is good time to buy some altcoins.

In the same situation as you are Smiley Honestly, i think that i will sell my order, because till December the difficulty will raise even more. So the ROI can be 7-8 months, and the ASIC's could not live that long so far as i know. Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst , also see the DASH difficulty graph to make your predictions https://www.coinwarz.com/difficulty-charts/dash-difficulty-chart
