What if nobody confirms my transaction?

Hey guys, Im really sorry if this is a dumb question, I pretty much am just getting into this whole bitcoin thing. So I just sent a transaction this morning with a pretty high transaction fee, and it went through no problem. So then I realized the fee was too high for the amounts Im sending, and not wanting to waste any more I lowered it to the minimum amount (0.001). But now looking online, I see that may have been a mistake and people might not accept that fee! What happens if they dont accept it? Im just a little worried since ive never worked with this software or anything like it before. But lets say I let this program run all day long and nobody confirms my transaction, then what do I do? I cant sit around for weeks waiting for 6 generous people to accept and confirm my sent bitcoins. Again, sorry if this is a dumb question, I hope to stick around and learn all the tricks of the trade from you well-versed miners and bitcoin experts. Thank you,

It's not a dumb question by any means - that's one of the more complicated pieces of the whole Bitcoin puzzle. The bottom line is, your transaction will go through eventually no matter what. If you pay a low (or no) fee, though, you'll have to wait longer. It can sometimes take several days for transactions to go through.

Hi mrneumann5000. Don't worry! Your transaction will go through! A fee of 0.001 is typically enough to be confirmed in 15 minutes or so. Note that even transactions without fees become confirmed eventually -- though it takes a lot longer. So just relax!
