Umbru Times #1

It has been 24 hours now since the Umbru mainnet launched, a few hiccups with the official pool statistics being slow to display but all in all a rather smooth launch. The aim of the Umbru Times is to give a weekly update on things achieved and plans going forward. This is to keep all users, miners and potential investors up to speed or to ask questions and give feed back.

Completed
 - Umbru Mainnet Launched
 - Block explorer and API
 - Official Mining Pool
 - Proposal Generator
 - ChainLocks Activated

Updates Planned (this month)
 -  Umbru Whitepaper (Revision 1)
 - Android/iOS Mobile Wallets
 - Trezor wallet support
 - Masternode Trezor support
 - Exchange/Service Listings

We have also had some interest from the community in joining the Umbru team in a community oriented role, more updates to come on this as salaries for community roles are based upon the Umbru Labs proposal passing at the end of this month.

Masternode owners please make sure to check #proposals on Discord and vote your thoughts!

Umbru Core - Linux Archive

It has been brought to our attention some flavours of Linux (mainly Ubuntu) were having issues with the .tar.gz archive.
A new file has been uploaded to fix this with all linux flavours. It is available here:

https://github.com/umbru/umbru-core/releases/download/v0.14.0.2/umbrucore-0.14.0.2-x86_64-linux-gnu.tar.gz

If you did not have any issues originally you do not need to download this as it is still the same v.0.14.0.2 wallet.

Blockbook Server and Trezor Integration

We have setup a blockbook server and added a pull request to add support for Umbru with trezor hardware wallets (link below).
You can use the blockbook server as a second explorer, or even set you own one up if you wish. An electrum wallet will also be available shortly to use Umbru with your hardware wallets.

This is another step completed on our journey to expanding decentralization which you can follow the progress in #🔔umbru-announcements or check out our roadmap (https://umbru.io/#roadmap) for longer term planning.

 - Blockbook Server: https://blockbook.umbru.io/
 - Blockbook Code: https://github.com/umbru/blockbook
 - Trezor Support: https://github.com/trezor/trezor-firmware/pull/433

Another announcement will be made shortly with the Electrum wallet being released pending testing with compatibility with our multi asset wallet coming in the near future!

Umbru Whitepaper V1.0 Released

As part of our roadmap Version 1.0 of our Whitepaper is now available!

Code:
A white paper is an authoritative report or guide that informs readers concisely about a complex issue and presents the issuing body's philosophy on the matter.
It is meant to help readers understand an issue, solve a problem, or make a decision.

We hope that our Whitepaper gives a more general overview of the project and what is planned while it is in it's infancy.
If you have read it and still have more questions, please don't hesitate to give me a message and I can try further to answer and questions or feedback you may have.

We will also be looking for translators who wish to help translate our Whitepaper into their native language, if you think you can help with this please let us know!

Umbru Times #2

I would like to apologize for the delay, as it has now just been over 1 week since the Umbru mainnet launched. The aim for the Umbru Times is to provide a weekly update where possible.
There has been a few discussions over the use of x25x as the proof-of-work hashing algorithm and its resistance to ASICs and FPGAs.
Currently and for the foreseeable future x25x is still classified as ASIC/FPGA resistant, if this changes or there is rumours of it changing we will endeavor to update/change our hashing algorithm to maintain our decentralized stance.
Version 1.0 of our Whitepaper was also made available in english this week. Other translations are coming (Chinese and Japanese available shortly). I have also included below what has been completed since last update and planned updates currently being worked on.

Completed
 -  Umbru Whitepaper (Revision 1)
 -  Trezor wallet support
 -  Proposal Generator
 -  ChainLocks Activated
 -  Discord Bot (tip, deposit, withdraw)

Updates Planned
 -  Masternode Trezor support
 -  Exchange/Service Listings
 -  Android/iOS Mobile Wallets
 -  Discord bot escrow function
 -  Umbru Electrum Wallet (Lite)
 -  Budget/Proposal Web UI (creating, voting, viewing, statistics)

The Umbru Labs proposal is open for voting until block 19440. More information is available in #proposals on our discord channel.
Masternode owners please make sure to check #proposals and vote your thoughts!

Ultex (Beta) - Division of Umbru Labs

I am proud to announce Ultex a division of Umbru Labs, which means Ultex is owned and run by the community! Development will be funded with the Umbru Labs proposal that has just recently passed with you the community deciding the direction things go (listings, features, updates). Ultex currently supports the following wallet types;

 - Bitcoin based
 - Ethereum based
 - Ethereum tokens
 - EOS
 - EOS tokens
 - Ripple based

Currently Ultex is centralized but as developments by @Ryxor continue with the Umbru network/wallet/blockchain plans are to slowly move each module onto the Umbru network (on chain deposits/withdrawals, trading and eventually accounts).

You may ask why another exchange platform?

With the rising costs/listing fees of traditional exchange platforms, Ultex has been built to support and supplement the Umbru network. Giving benefits and another source of income to our Masternode holders that help decentralize the network. I have given a quick outline below of some of the benefits;

 - Monthly trading fees (after Ultex costs) will be used to purchase UMBRU at market price the distributed evenly upon all active Masternodes.
 - Priority listing fees (paid in UMBRU) will also be evenly distributed among all active Masternodes otherwise listings are free.
 - Any trading fees earned in UMBRU will be publicly burnt each quarter reducing total supply.
 - Masternodes will gain additional funding once on chain network transactions are enabled.

How can I get involved?

For suggestions, feedback or requests you can post your thoughts in the #requests channel, for more indepth involvement you can send an email to support@ultex.io or message me personally to discuss what you wish to be involved in/can offer.

Owning a Masternode is also a passive involvement/income and proposals will be created/voted on for Ultex related topics.

Trading Fees, Listing Fees. What are all these fees?

Ultex aims to provide a fair and equal service to all projects, from the smallest to largest. We think that listing fees for traditional exchanges can be unfair and unjust in proportion to cost, as trading fees are also charged.
At Ultex listing fees are free (subject to approval from the community)
An optional fast track listing fee is available (paid in UMBRU and distributed to Masternode holders) to list a project faster. Note, this does not bypass any checks or community agreement.

The main dev, on discord named Ryxor#0749, has not
responded since September 25---

'''Sorry for the quietness many users choose to message the team instead of posting here. We had some issues with the TradeOgre listing and got scammed - Crex24 is in discussions and @Hawkz_ is working on updates and additions for Ultex."

---Ryxor#0749

There is one other team member in discord, Hawkz#3154.

I believe this is a scam.
I have posted for 2 weeks in the discord, with no response.
