WOW Cambodia a big player in Asia and the smallest is welcoming Bitcoin. They are very alert to currency and there movement. There currency is the Khmer riel and is 4300 to 1 dollar, the interesting thing is there currency fluctuation is very small and stable if you are exchanging money. The other issue is that the country uses the Dollar as there main currency all ATM machines dispense dollars.

As this is all in the working they plan on having a Bitcoin exchange in place by the end of the year.....

If already countries like Cambodia are interested in bitcoin, then the crypto currency is confidently moving around the planet and entering the most distant countries. Apparently, soon there will be no country where they no longer know about bitcoin and would not use it as a means of payment.

Aren't combodia main tourist destination for big casino players. Casino industry in combodia is booming and sooner or later they have to start accepting bitcoin for deposit. So to exchange all those bitcoin they require their own regulated bitcoin trading platform.

Good move from relatively small country.

Do you have any link or source for this? I have some friends living in Cambodia which are close to my family circle but I doubt it that they will be into cryptocurrency. But later on I'll try to verify this on them but I know what will be their answer since they are staying there just to work and they are not that really about the crypto world or anything that's related to finance upgrade or technology.

Yep, the NagaWorld hotel is their largest and most of the foreigners in there (especially rich Chinese people) often visit the country.

According to the article, it's a PoS terminal in which merchants can opt to be paid in bitcoin and the buyer can also opt in bitcoin whenever they have the currency at hand. For a country with a diverse currency usage, bitcoin can be a successful experiment in here.

Can't wait until they start coming to bitcointalk in droves after discovering sig campaigns exist.  I'm sure that won't be an issue with post quality or anything.  lol

OP, it'd be nice if you provided some references.  People's word here means absolutely zero without proof to back it up.  But I'm sure after Cambodia solves all the other socio-economic problems, they'll adopt bitcoin. Of course the sun will probably have burned out by then and all the bitcoin addresses will have been used up.

Edit:  Thanks for the link, dothebeats.

I think cambodia has a good chance to develop bitcoin there, a fairly advanced and rapidly developing country economy. it turns out there is only a small part of the bitcoin community.

That will be great news for this country if they will be accepting and recognizing Bitcoin. I am planning to go to Cambodia and hopefully by then they are already accepting Bitcoins. I can't wait for this to happen and good luck too!

This is a good news. Because China is losing the crypt industry, more countries still come and accept bitcoins. This is just one serious proof that bitcoins can no longer be stopped. The time will come when powerful nations will overthrow by  bitcoins and it will soon be happened. So let's get ready for the modern day that money is one of the first major way of payment because the bitcoins / crypto currency will reign

Bitcoin, the digital currency once hailed as the future of financial transactions, is seeing growing popularity worldwide, but has struggled to make traction as a viable payment solution in Cambodia beyond a niche of dedicated users. Cambodia to accept bitcoin, admitted there has been little use of bitcoin at his establishment. He attributes the slow adoption to the difficulty many people have in understanding how the cryptocurrency works.

This is the opportunity that Bitcoin ATM manufacturers should use to grow adoption in these countries. These Bitcoin ATM's are mostly being distributed in first world countries, because it is close to home and cheaper to distribute and to maintain, but the real opportunities are in countries like Cambodia where markets are untapped with little or no competition.

I would rather build and diversify my distribution, than centralizing in one country and risking losing everything when the policies change. < regime change >

It's interesting how developing countries are being so welcoming towards cryptocurrencies. They're going to have a small market even if this does push through, but as far as adoption goes, the earlier the better right?
