So, ripple was changing its direction from the open payment platform to the smartcontract? Ethereum wants to compete with another scalability blockchain through implement its first and second layer scalability solution in the future.
I should not count EOS as one of them because it has fully manipulated by the developers. The competition will be very strictly soon.

Now the question lies on trustworthiness.
Ethereum is much more decentralized than its competitors while EOS is depended on limited nodes.
I don't got it clearly but seems like Codius too would be depended on limited number of nodes which in future can lead to manipulation by a small group of people or employee of a single company.

I had no idea about that. Very interesting. When Ripple passed BTC in market value I sold everything and never bought it again. This new option seemed interesting and I will read more about it. Maybe I'll invest again. But it's always good to remember that ripple belongs to another category. And compete with options that go beyond cryptocurrencies. Since it is a centralized platform, controlled by an owner and with no plans to change.

It is not in the same category as ETH for example. And yet be able to be a successful company with their token worth nothing.

The competition will be worth eb=njoying I think. Both eth and Ripple is growing fast but Ripple introducing a smart contract might take it way ahead. Eth is also growing fast. Lets see who wins.

In this case, considering all this, as well as the huge capitalization of ripple, competition is planned to be tough. Actually I think that the market will see a tough competition among these coins. Though a good news for the technology, it would jeopardize the investment in different coins.
