In a previous post of mine on http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1wzaft/bitcoin_will_succeed_but_without_a_political/ – which expectingly wasn't to well received from this fellow libertarian community – I've tried to make the point, that adoption of bitcoin will happen because of it's great usefulness and not it's political implications. I still believe that if a 'digital currency' will one day succeed, the reason for it will be because people find it useful.
Today I want to be more gentle and hide my current uncertainty of bitcoin's future in a question: With the already existing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JA8m0JOoNYQ and future concepts of transacting money over the internet by big companies like Google and Apple, how can bitcoin still stand out? How can bitcoin even survive this, in regard to all the legal problems and little acceptance it is still facing?
I'am aware of the disadvantages (restricted global transactions, possible drawbacks, just another middleman, etc.) but it's just another button for the average user in their webmail or iphone interface and this makes it just too comfortable.
Peace!
