First off, Hello BitcoinTalk World !!!

Secondly, I hope I've found the correct forum to post my thoughts on FUD.
- Fear, Uncertainty & Doubt.

I recently had an experience where when Westerncoin deleted, or lost their second Facebook page, and without any word from them otherwise I felt driven to let people know by commenting on others YT channels what I perceived had just happened.

- which was, now they deleted their Official FB page.
- please note, I have skin in the game, several thousand $, no excuse, just saying...

And like Paul Revere, I thought I was genuinely doing a real service by spreading my discovery on the crypto YT channels I frequent.

Two people with channels reached out to me and told me to stop, and two commenters on another channel said something too.

Now what I learned out of that experience is that it's not right to post FUD on other peoples channel, if you have something that others might consider FUD, post it on your own channel ( if it's that FUD'ish ). Respect peoples space, it's their creation, respect it.

But there was another aspect I want to speak to which I was confronted with.

I was not lying.
- and Yes, a few days later they put up their internal exchange and things moved forward :-) Yea !!!

But this is the problem I have with the term FUD.
- because you can absolutely be telling the truth, and by it's very definition be spreading FUD at the same time.

I'm not entirely sure what the solution or work-around there is, but learn from my experience.

Just be smart about spreading Fear, Uncertainty & Doubt even if it is the truth as we currently understand it.

Be as thoughtful in your language as possible, try not to jump to conclusions.

Such a discovery can be scary depending on your level of investment, but others can be just as easily offended when your efforts, innocent & spontaneous as they may be, threaten their sense of well-being, only to find out in the end it was a False Alarm. ( Who Farted ).

Conclusion, Even with the Best intentions, being the first to report a problem can just as easily backfire in your face :-)
- Use care when attempting any such announcements that might be considered FUD.

PEACE,
CryptoRoger

You can spread FUD with the truth. It's the intention you give to the action that creates FUD. When you stated the page was deleted you were telling the truth but in that context people may have perceived you were trying to give second intentions to that action, like they did that because of a bad reason. You can only speculate on the reason because nobody knows it and people will always protect their investments.
