One of the biggest mysteries in the technology world is the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto. No one knows who he is, where he is or what he is doing with his millions.

Bitcoin has a finite supply of 21 mln which is expected to be reached by the year 2140.

Nakamoto's one mln Bitcoins amount to five percent of the entire cryptocurrency.

So, what will happen?Howdo you think?

Nothing will happen, life will move on. The price of bitcoin will havr mooned by then. That's the beauty of decentralization, we  don't care who the founder is as his identity does not affect the protocol. With regards to his 5mil Bitcoins, I wonder if he still has the private keys. I guess we will never know. For all we know he could have lost them.lol

I think not in the "technology world", but in the digital currency world. We all know that they said that he holds 1 million bitcoins atleast he is not ruining the flow.

Bitcoin has a finite supply of 21 mln which is expected to be reached by the year 2140.

Yes but not all that 21 million is usable.

Nakamoto's one mln Bitcoins amount to five percent of the entire cryptocurrency.

So, what will happen?Howdo you think?

I think Satoshi Nakamoto mined that million bitcoins for a reason. As crypocurrency experts say, there are two theories, it is either the "bad Satoshi" that just ran off knowing that bitcoin may boom in the future and it did so he is a millionaire, or the "good Satoshi" holds that million to make the price of it good and balanced.

Nothing will happen!

It would be stupid of Satoshi to sell all his coins at one moment. Because he is smart he would sell them a little at a time, so that bitcoin value would not collapse.

But personally I think Satoshi did not save the private keys to the coins he mined in the first year.

And I also think Satoshi was Hal Finley. RIP.

Satoshi is more likely to be a group of developers. The question is are they developers that are know to us or completely anonymous people living a quiet life?

Nothing special will happened because he will not his touched his millions. He is already fine with his creation being used for whatever purposes, (investments, store of value, payment scheme).

But I agree that people not knowing who is the real Satoshi added some sort of curiosity to bitcoin, and him become legendary. Yes its about 5% and it ever 'he' sold it, there will be a ripple effect on the market. The price could plummet and crash. However, the all knowing Satoshi would do that because he don't want to attract attention specially disruption to the bitcoin system.

You would think he would want to make some money on his Bitcoin or at least use it for something. The only reason I can see him keeping it if he is still alive is that hes already a multi millionaire.

No. You are absolutely no idea who Hal Finley is. He already claimed that the is not Satoshi.

I thought I'd write about the last four years, an eventful time for Bitcoin and me.

For those who don't know me, I'm Hal Finney. I got my start in crypto working on an early version of PGP, working closely with Phil Zimmermann. When Phil decided to start PGP Corporation, I was one of the first hires. I would work on PGP until my retirement. At the same time, I got involved with the Cypherpunks. I ran the first cryptographically based anonymous remailer, among other activities.

When Satoshi announced the first release of the software, I grabbed it right away. I think I was the first person besides Satoshi to run bitcoin. I mined block 70-something, and I was the recipient of the first bitcoin transaction, when Satoshi sent ten coins to me as a test. I carried on an email conversation with Satoshi over the next few days, mostly me reporting bugs and him fixing them.

Today, Satoshi's true identity has become a mystery. But at the time, I thought I was dealing with a young man of Japanese ancestry who was very smart and sincere. I've had the good fortune to know many brilliant people over the course of my life, so I recognize the signs.

For those of you who are not familiar, he used to be a member of this forum. You can read that thread and see how the man says that he is not Satoshi and didn't know who the man is.

As much as we like to unravel the real identify of Satoshi, I think he chooses to be anonymous and will just choose not to touch his bitcoins. It's either he is dead by this time or are totally not interested with the technology he created. Its really to us to carry what he has started.

I think he is interested into his technology, if he isn't I think he can just sold his 1 million bitcoins and live his entire life as a successful investor and millionaire right? I think he did this for a reason. I will be sticking in the "Good Satoshi" theory. If he is dead, I think that is really unfortunate that he leave his million bitcoins and his masterpiece behind.

I also think on that way, group of talented people taking also the support of big organisation (it can be anything, I do not know, but without taking support is not easy this kind of a big project, world changing)

I have read a lot about Hal, and the one thing that convinced me is that the analysis of his writings match surprisingly well with Satoshis writings. For example, he used to write 2 spaces after a dot, like Satoshi did. And also being a part in the first ever transaction is a bit suspicious. Could easily just be Satoshi himself.

For those of you who are not familiar, he used to be a member of this forum. You can read that thread and see how the man says that he is not Satoshi and didn't know who the man is.

It is only logical that if someone wants to keep his identity a secret, then he will deny being the person he does not want to admit being. I think all the suspects have denied being Satoshi.

I dont think is really a mystery if you ask me because he just decide to stay anonymous on his own. He might even be part of the community under another alias and seeing how things are going. He is someone I believe does not want the fame that comes with the invention of a great innovation as this and because of the vulture that control the way things are being done in every sphere of life, he probably not going to be recognized and therefore its better to stay silent and allow this blossom beyond anybody imagination.

Some people would actually know him or be able to find him because if there is enough information to make that happen but the guy is just good at keeping secrets with himself being a definition of secrets. By 2140 when the whole bitcoin would have been mined, I think by then we wont even need any additional coin to be created because the available ones would have circulated.

how can you ever feel safe holding 1 mln bitcoins?? how do you sleep at night?? every burglar/ hacker/ mafia warlord/ government... would want to have Billions of dollars. I know that bitcoin is secure and all but the weakest link is usually something physical (a piece of paper that holds your private keys?) if this was the reason why satoshi didn't reveal his identity, he must've had quite the foresight to know that bitcoin will reach where it is today.

yes, it's really a mystery. has been much speculation about it. I still think that Satoshi definitely has a lot of BTC. besides, I think Satoshi Nakamoto is not an individual, but a team.
right now, Satoshi must be smiling at the bitcoin price that could reach $ 7000.

Nothing will happen. Why does something need to happen? If Satoshi reemerges and dumps his coins, then we can expect a sizeable dip. If he stays hidden with his stash dormant, then we have less supply and more value. He's been missing in action for so long though that I don't think he will ever resurface again. For all we know, he might have already dumped a portion of his wealth.

Also I wouldn't say it's one of the biggest mysteries of the tech world. Cryptocurrency is still a really small subset of that. It really is intriguing though. The theories about Hal Finney and Dorian Satoshi Nakamoto are so ridiculously well thought out that they might as well be true. It just goes to show how serious people are in finding Satoshi.

For me, Satoshi Nakamoto could definitely be a team and created a certain name so that if one of them has been caught then he could claim that he is Satoshi Nakamoto and the identity of the others will be kept hidden and will make the case closed already.  Anyway, he should be smiling and laughing right now for what he created has reached already.  Having billions on their hand is a proof of them being proud of their work and I think they won't sell it because it will ruin their name and reputation not only by their team but bitcoin too.

We may have different opinions but the main reason Satoshi Nakamoto for me is as important as a father of cryptocurrency that created this opportunity for each one of us. He can do whatever he want to for his bitcoin holdings for he deserves it more than any other man. But if we think much about it and be worried on anything that may not happen on bitcoin sold out by Satoshi. Time to stop on this uncertainty as it won’t help determine who is who and where he might be because he is not willing to go out.
