I didn’t know if there was a list somewhere of the more popular BTC exchanges. I have been searching. I found Kraken. It appears to be laid out nicely. I’d like to look at a few that allow trading in smaller amounts for someone just starting out.

I think you can start trading in Bittrex, poloniex there trading volume is quite large  Wink
Yeah i agree,  you can trade in bittrex there has a high trading volume there and simple to use. lack of bittrex only which fee transaction quite  hight.
High volume trading isn't guaranteed for anything. Look at the BTC-e scandal, which is the best exchange in the world. They are fucking by the goverments and boom , investors lost their money

if you want to know about list BTC exchanges or others you can check it in here :
https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/#markets
there are a lot of markets listed in there and its pair,
also other than that you can see its volume everyday and percentage for every change.

i have a few advices for you whenever you want  to choose it or not,
volume can not guarantee anything, and it would be the best for you to choose the nearest one because exchanger is good as an exchanger no more.
most of them lately 'keeping' their costumer money for some reason.
so,never trust any exchanger 100% and never store your coin in there.
no matter what is it,they're only good as an exchanger.
bear it in your mind and always do your own research before using it
