Hey.
I am thinking of setting up a secure node of zencash
I know you need 42 coins.
But do you lose those coins or do you keep the coins you stake?

You keep those coins. You'll get them back if you decided to leave the masternode.
Ensure you have uninterruptible power and internet service with a fixed IP.
