I have over 3/4 of a bitcoin from 2014.  It was lost in a wallet backup.  Now recovered.  Do I get 3/4 of a Bitcoin cash?  How do I do that?

Thank You For Your Help!!

yes

first of all move the funds to a new address using bitcoin
this then secures your bitcoin.

but keep the old (2014) privkey that is now empty in bitcoin, thus now it is safe to use elsewhere.
the reason i say that its best to move your btc first. is to avoid replay.

you can then import the 2014privkey into the recent forks software such as bitcoin cash.
because on the bitcoin cash chain, the 0.75 coin will still be linked to that 2014privkey

and then you can move those funds to an exchange that accepts bitcoin cash

 Thank You Franky1 !!

That Makes Me a Happy Man!!

Ok I have all kinds of backup files and folders from trying for 3 or 4 months of trying to get my wallet back.

None say Private Key.  So where would my Private Key Hide at?

Where do I find the recent forks software such as bitcoin cash?

  Thank You Again!

Hey what wallet are you using ?
if you are using Bitcoin core follow these steps

1. Launch your Bitcoin client
2. Click on 'help' in the menu bar (top right)
3. Click on 'debug window'
4. Select the 'console' tab
5. If your wallet is protected by a passphrase (i.e. you have to enter a passphrase before you can send) unlock it by typing
walletpassphrase "your walletpassphrase here" 600
dumpprivkey [your Bitcoin address here]
6. This will return the private key which will start with the number 5[/li][/list]

Hi, I would recommend importing the address to blockchain.info, I did the same, I had 1 bitcoin I brought in 2015 and only recently imported it to blockchain.info where I have now separated both bitcoin and bitcoin cash, personally I sold bitcoin cash to buy more bitcoin... It might be worth you doing the same as bitcoin cash has been pumped today so I feel it is a good time to sell (my opinion)

Do you have the private key to the bitcoin address with 0.75 bitcoin ? If you need help, send me a PM and ill tell you the steps for you to take.
