I'm just getting into BTC and mining, and figured I could plunk down a few hundred$$ of my hobby money on a ASIC (or other) hardware solution.  I was all ready to throw all of my money at Butterfly Labs, but I dont really feel like waiting a year.. I'm also not to keen on what I'm reading about their quality of customer support..
So, what other all-in-one solutions are out there in the sub $500 range?  And no, i am not interested in building my own PC based kludge..

honestly, I wouldn't invest in hardware right now.  I would either just buy BTC to hold, or buy shares of something listed on https://btct.co/

but if your solely looking for hardware, you only have 2 real options.  search the forums, you know it to be true.

I think snare rolls should be used as a currency.

You can't make money buying mining hardware right now. You missed out on ASICs. You would have had to order last year from BFL or Avalon batch 1 to make a return.

You best bet is to go to bitfunder.com and buy ASIC Miner shares.

Hey thanks for that very thoughtful and helpful tidbit of knowledge.. I have read through much here in the forum, and since I clearly have more of a social life than you, I don't understand it all (because I'm out having a life and such..).  Thus, I came here to ask the helpful group for help and advice.. Others have risen to the occasion.. You have failed miserably..  But it was entertaining so for that, I thank you..

If you want hardware in that price range go to some Avalon chips group buy thread (here are EU based group-buys and they are offering assembly for a complete miner):
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=200067.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=217316.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=187660
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=189582.0

Here is a list of all assemblers of Avalon ASIC Miners:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=192860.0

There are also group-buys offering shares and hosting of KnC miners and Metabank.ru, look under
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=137.0

And be prepared to wait... for september.

ASICMiners shares... at 3.5BTC/share? They are paying dividends every two weeks, around 0.025BTC average, so calculate for yourself. Of course, you can sell your shares later.
