The official information says that mining for Bitcoin Gold will be available at block height 499407. However, I doubt that mining for this cryptocurrency is a good idea. You will spend more money and time for the process of mining, and the profit will be minimal (or no profit at all).

Right now no idea how profitable it is but I'm willing to give it a shot for now ... mining is a hobby for me ...

BTw the QT bitcoin gold wallet version works, i just finished downloading the full node from the BTC block chain sense it uses the BTC BC  and you can run the bitcoin core and bitcoin gold wallet on the same PC at the same time just have a big Hard drive for two copy's of the BTC block chain i couldn't share the chains ...I'm getting payments from one of the pools i think the others are not working right or being dishonest ...  sorry to say the pool I'm mining on seems to be very honest the payment are on the money so to speak while the others take for ever to post some thing i don't trust them yet ..

The pool i use

https://gpool.guru/

btw we never know this might work they said zec was a bad idea don't mine it, if you worry about Roi yea don't mine it   ..... now look at Zcash .. well any way well see...in time.

I'm doing something like that a day not much better then ETH or ZEC but better none the less but yea well see in time ....I agree mining 100k btg before they opened the nodes to the public was wrong to do ...  or don't let us know keep it private then when there done open to the public don't tell us while you do it .

BTG has been doing pretty well for me lately. I have been mining with 3 1070s and adding another 1070 Ti later this week. Have been going pretty much since the chain synced up with a 2 hour gap when my miner froze once. I have mined about .13469 so far at 1460 sols/s. Planning on keeping this up for another week or two before deciding what to do with the coins.

I'm only making 2.60 cents a day before electric cost with a 1080 ti running at 80 tdp on suprnova

Not profitable at all.

2x 1050ti = ~.01btg per day here (also on suprnova), does that fall in line?

Hello,

Anyone tried to mine it on laptop?  Grin

lol I'm admittedly still pointing my GPUs at BTG, but if I was gonna fry a laptop mining, I would at least do it over an established coin  Wink

its profitable yes but you might want to expand the area of understanding first about the miner gpu. cause you need a higher gpu to overcome the electricity cost and to have higher hash. upon doing that i can clearly say that it is indeed profitable.
