GPU 4 x 80w = 320w
Riser 4 x 40w = 160w
Mobo, ssd, ram, cpu = 130w

Total 610w +20% = 732w, so 750w psu should work. Get platinum or titanium one.

That's not a good advice. First of all, even the worst platforms today don't consume more than 100W (most are at ~50 W idle consumption). No idea where you're getting the "130W" figure from. But that's just nitpicking, not really important. What is important though is that GTX 970 has 145W TDP. So 4 of those can easily draw 600W from the PSU. Of course one can (and should) undervolt the cards, but PSUs are always selected based on at least the stock TDP (cause cards crash sometimes and revert to the stock settings by themselves). And then, how are you going to connect a mining rig with 4 gtx 970s to a single 750W PSU? Most of 970s have 2x pci-e power connectors each. So, to power a rig like this you'll need at least four molex/6-pin connectors for the risers, and then eight(!) pci-e connectors for the cards. Have you ever seen a 750W PSU with so many connectors? I haven't. There are some 970 cards with single pci-e power connector each (Strix and EVGA Mini-ITX come to mind), but it's still too much of a stretch in terms of total power anyway.

A decent 1000W PSU will work fine. The good brands are Corsair, EVGA, Seasonic, CoolerMaster, BeQuiet. Look for popular Gold/Platinum units.

Don't go cheap on it and take 1000W Plat (Be quiet has 9 pcie connectors) and you should be fine!

Use 2 750 gold rated PSU for future proof just in case you want another few VC's for your rig.

Note : 970 has higher wattage than current 10xx series of Nvidia

Just grab a gold/platinum rated 1000w ATX modular PSU, and call it a day.

I don't think you'll have much of a hassle at all.

Always doubt.

thanks!

if it has 6 vga inputs, does that mean i can have 6 video cards?

when i checked newegg this one was featured and looks like the best

i wont ever go past 4 video cards,  so 1300w too much right? waste of money?

That sounds better but again, just for 4 GPUs, may not make sense to you.

And what do you mean by 6 VGA inputs?

Those are outputs, and no, it just means that there are 6 cables coming out of the PSU that are suitable for high power pci-e load. If the description on the EVGA site is correct then the configuration of the cables is 2x 750mm, 900mm (m) 4x 750mm (m). So you've got 2 cables with 2 connectors each, and 4 cables with one connector each — 8 pci-e connectors in total. What I don't like about EVGA is that they often over-complicate things with pci-e connectors (probably because this particular PSU is an old design back from 2013). With this PSU not all eight connectors are 8-pin, only six of them are and then the remaining two are 6-pin. That is not likely to be a problem in your case (unless you've got some rare 970s — which ones do you have anyway?).

In terms of wattage, 1000W is fine for your rig. You'd get a little bit higher efficiency if you'd use a 1200-1300W PSU, but considering how you're using older-gen cards it looks like power efficiency is not exactly your main priority. So 1000W will be enough.

That's not "14-pin" Cheesy — it's 2 power connectors per card, one of which is 8-pin and the other is 6-pin. You'll be fine with that EVGA 1000W PSU, it has enough connectors for your rig (you only need 4x 8-pin connectors and 1x 6-pin connector, and that PSU has 6x 8-pin connectors and 2x 6-pin connectors).
