I thought it was a joke when I first saw it. I think that everyone was taken aback, considering that nobody besides Jeff Garzik was still openly backing Segwit2x. Turns out the joke was on them: the btc1 client was completely broken, and got stuck 2 blocks before the fork was set to occur.

It's embarrassing for all the NYA companies, but especially for Coinbase. They supported the fork until the bitter end, long after everyone else had given up. And in the end, nobody had even bothered to audit the consensus code well enough to discover that the code was broken.

Unfortunately, I don't think anything will change. It seems unlikely that any businesses will displace Coinbase, even after all their recent missteps.

The SegWit2x chain is currently lagging the main chain by 156 blocks.

No new blocks were found after fork..

he SegWit2x chain is currently sitting at block height of 494782, waiting for the first >1MB block to be mined...

No any 1mb+ block till now.

With only 9.72% of miners (today) indicating support of SegWit2x (on the 1x chain), the forked chain is unlikely to be extended beyond block 494782.

Less than 10% miners indicating support.

So in conclusion, segwit2x have already failed

I have received the same email that announcing that Segwit2x will continue even with the backlash of supports by many exchanges and miners.. I think Coinbase just want to pursue it for this is nowhere to go option for them,, they don’t want to admit and accepting that the one they fully support was cancelled and leave them as a dummy of a failed forking.. This indicates the ego or pride of the said exchanges that they themselves makes huge mistake on trusting such actions..
