Unfortunately we don't know what the future holds.

Everybody knows that cryptocurrencies are very volatile assets and you can get burned. There are many miners that don't take the risk and convert their earnings to USD as soon as they can.
But if you think that many have sold Bitcoin at 200$ or sold Monero at under 1$, if you look back they've made a bad choice.

XMR value may go slightly down but it won't totally lose its value. At least not soon.
Something really bad must happen for such a popular currency to completely die.

Besides, it can go up and you will earn more. No one can predict that.

As has been said, there are no guarantees. However, XMR is a lot "safer" than a lot of other coins simply because it has been around awhile. Usually most shit coins that go to zero and never recover will do so within their first year or two, or at the least be delisted by all major exchanges.

Of course a coin value can bullish and bearish, but you should not worry about popular coin like XMR, usually the price won't drop too much.
