You have to wait until it's completely synced - then you should see the bitcoins in your wallet.

What is the address you received bitcoins too? You could check it online.

just wait for the client to sync, this could take awhile.

in the meantime, go to blockchain.info and search for the address you sent them to.  you can verify that they are indeed where they should be.

Just checked online and they are where they should be!
I want to use those bitcoins to make a payment now, can i send them from the Bitcoin-QT client without it being synced?

You're best option is to just wait until the wallet is done syncing, but if you're really in a hurry, you could create a wallet at https://blockchain.info/wallet and then import the private key that is associated with the address.

Then you'd be able to immediately send a transaction from the blockchain.info wallet.
