Maybe Bestexchange can you help with your search.
And probably Coinbase is a Solution.
I think it is easier to find one when you discripe what kind of usd-wallet is the receiving adress.
Changer.com is also a possible solution there you can exchange your eth direktly to an PY/PM or AdvCash wallet.

There are 400+ exchanges supporting Ether trade and most of then have USD as an alternative option so you can check the real-time rate of ETH/USD pair on various exchanges (on a single page).

* https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/ethereum/#native.

However, while considering the cheapest option also check the volume, reputation and hidden fees of the exchange to avoid the trouble. Since USD is not my native currency, I find that Paypal is one of the good options to hold USD (if received through exchange or organisation).

The best exchange is your local exchange out of it, you will get big charge for every transaction.

To answer your question directly the cheapest way is to do a direct transaction with a buyer in public, then you have escrowing, and then you can use a local exchange in that order. As always if you are going to meet someone take your precautions just if you are doing a craiglist transaction or whatever
